Bloodborne Pathogens: Lab Users

Course Description

Bloodborne pathogen training is required for any employee who may encounter blood or other potentially infectious materials resulting from performing their job duties.
  • This course specifically addresses laboratory user roles. Specific employee roles are defined in the Exposure Control Plan and include principal investigator, research associate, assistant, technician or equivalent, lab assistant, and animal caretaker.
  • The course covers situations where exposure may occur, exposure routes, specific pathogens, exposure control, vaccines, safe sharps use, post-incident response and the UTK incident reporting process.

Audience

  • Anyone working with unfixed/untested human tissue, blood, cells, or associated waste materials.
