Respiratory Protection Awareness
Course Description
A single exposure to an airborne chemical can cause health effects that last for the rest of your life. If your workplace contains dangerous chemicals, you may need to know about respirator use. This training will present the basic requirements of respiratory protection and will focus on the types and limitations of respirators. Ideal learners include all employees.
Audience
- All employees who use any type of respirator, including those commonly referred to as “masks”. All respirator use requires assessment. Contact EHS at safety@utk.edu for more information.

This course covers OSHA Respiratory polices and procedures found in OSHA standard 1910.134 with Appendixes A, B-1, B-2, C, and D.
Audience
- Persons wishing to wear program based respiratory equipment shall complete K@TE training for applicable year. Medical evaluations must be completed prior to fit-testing. IWS requires a detailed job hazard analysis prior to program enrollment. This prepares learners for future respiratory protection assessment and fit testing components that are not included in the training environment.
