Course Description

Workers are near hazardous chemical products every day. This poses serious problems for workers and their employers. Hazard Communication (HazCom) training is designed to provide workers with the information they need to recognize and avoid exposure to hazardous chemicals. This course will introduce learners to the HazCom Standard as well as demonstrate how Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) and chemical labels help workers to prepare for hazards and react to exposures.

Course Description

Explore how the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) aims to safeguard employees from injury and illness relating to hazardous chemicals in the workplace. The course outlines the HCS provisions that ensure workers have access to adequate safety information about the chemicals they encounter. Learn about hazard evaluation, written hazard communication programs, labels and other forms of warning, material safety and data sheets, employee training, and transmittal of information to healthcare professionals in medical and non-medical emergencies.
