Laser Safety

Course Description

This training module covers the hazards associated with Class 3B and Class 4 lasers, safe-use practices to reduce related risks, and how to respond to laser-related emergencies.

Audience

Campus members who may use Class 3B or Class 4 lasers or who works in areas where hazard information on high-power lasers is appropriate.

Initial Course Details

  • Training is required before you begin working with Class 3 B or Class 4 lasers or before working in the vicinity of these lasers.
  • Learning Credit: 1 hour
  • Delivery Platform: Canvas (Academic)
  • Certificate: This course does not provide a completion certificate. Completion is tracked by Radiation Safety.
  • Enrollment: By request

Refresher Course Details

  • Training is required to continue working or within the vicinity of Class 3 B or Class 4 lasers or continue working in the vicinity of these lasers.
  • Learning Credit: 1 hour
  • Delivery Platform: Canvas (Academic)
  • Certificate: This course does not provide a completion certificate. Completion is tracked by Radiation Safety.
  • Enrollment: Assigned every two years
  • Annual Notification: Every spring, Radiation Safety will e-mail Class 3B and Class 4 workers, who completed the initial or annual refresher Laser training two years prior.
