Fire Safety in University Workplaces, Residences, and Laboratories

Course Description

  • This fire safety course meets OSHA requirements for employers who provide portable fire extinguishers, but whose employee roles do not require them to actively fight fires.
  • This course uses video and interactive activities to emphasize fire safety awareness, specific hazards related to university workplaces, residences, and laboratories, proper fire extinguisher use (including RACE and PASS), and safe evacuation procedures.

Audience

  • The primary audience includes faculty, staff, and students who study and work at UTK.
  • UTK campus members whose roles do not include the expectation to fight fires.

Course Details

  • This course replaces the following retired EHS modules:
    • Fire Extinguishers
    • Fire Safety in Labs
  • Learning Credit 30 minutes
  • Certificate valid x 1 year
